With victories against Spain and New Zealand in their respective quarterfinal matches, Australia and Belgium are the first semifinalists at the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023. Australia will compete against the winner of the game between Germany and England in the semifinals, and Belgium will compete against the winner of the quarterfinal game between Netherlands and Korea.

2023 Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup quarterfinal result, score, semi-final schedule, date, time, venue, & other details
Despite facing the tournament favorites, Spain started strong and managed to establish two-goal lead within first 25 minutes. However, Australia’s attack responded strongly and managed to tie the score with two rapid-fire goals. Just when Spain tried to slow the pace of game, Jeremy Hayward fired two more goals within four minutes that allowed Australia gain 4-2 lead. Thereafter, Spain tried their best to even the score but fell short as the game ended 4-3 in the favor of Australia.
After stunning the hosts earlier in the cross-over match, New Zealand hoped for similar feat against the reigning world champions Belgium but, resilient defense combined with well-planned attacks thwarted the strategy of New Zealand. Ultimately, Belgium won the clash by score of 2-0 thanks to goals from Tom Boon and Aubel. With this victory, Belgium have qualified for the semi-final of FIH Hockey World Cup and are still in strong contention of retaining their title.
