Standing tall at 47 centimeters (19 inches) and weighing 4.6 kilograms (10 pounds), the Women’s World Cup trophy exudes an air of grace and athleticism. With its distinctive cone-shaped base showcasing the names of past victors, the trophy’s charm lies in its elegance.

FIFA describes it as a “spiral band enclosing a football at the top,” a design that captures the very essence of international women’s football – its dynamism, athleticism, and grace.

Unlike its male counterpart, the trophy’s composition is not solid gold but rather a combination of sterling silver covered in 23-karat white and yellow gold.

Crafted from gold-plated brass, the trophy’s base boasts candeias granite, while elements of bronze and polished aluminum intermingle with the precious metals.

Designed by William Sawaya and meticulously crafted by Milanese specialists Sawaya & Moroni, the current trophy is a testament to exquisite artistry. This trophy’s journey began in 1998, culminating in its presentation to the triumphant USA team after the 1999 Women’s World Cup. It is the second iteration of the prize, replacing the original trophy that adorned the hands of victors in 1991 and 1995.
