This 2023 Women’s World Cup is the ninth edition of the tournament and it will be the biggest till date with 32 teams playing against each other across 64 games.
Team USA will go into the Women’s World Cup 2023 as the defending champions, while England will be looking to win their first title after their 2022 European win.
Women’s World Cup 2023 tournament format
The 2023 Women’s World Cup will make history this year as it expands to 32 teams, eight more than the previous tournament. This expansion means more matches will take place, with 64 matches set to take place across Australia and New Zealand.
It also sees the addition two extra groups and only the top-two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stages. In the last 2019 edition, the four best third-placed teams also progressed to the Round of 16.
