It was also confirmed that a women’s competition will begin in 2025. The competition will include the best teams from across the world, and the winner will be crowned the global champion of the women’s Club World Cup. With that stated, let’s learn everything there is to know about the Women’s World Cup.
When will the FIFA Women’s World Cup begin?
The FIFA Women’s Club World Cup is expected to begin in 2025. However no date has been determined, the Women’s Club World Cup will represent the women’s game in the same light as the men’s version. Women’s football has grown in popularity in recent years, and the Club World Cup will be presented for the first time in the sport’s history. During the press conference, FIFA President said;
“Every four years, we want to create a new women’s Club World Cup and a new Fifa Futsal Women’s World Cup. We’d want to see if the women’s Olympic competition, like the men’s, can feature 16 teams.”
However, the format of the Women’s Club World Cup is yet unknown. Based on the Men’s Club World Cup format, the competition has been played among the seven top clubs from six confederations, and while the women’s first tournament has yet to be announced, it is expected to take place in 2025.
This is due to FIFA’s council’s decision to extend the current women’s calendar for the following three years. According to FIFA, “proper consideration should be paid to the player’s health and well-being as a primary priority in deciding the parameters of the new international match schedules.”
