Despite some changes in the selection of host country, FIFA is confident that this tournament will run smoothly fulfilling it’s objective of showcasing young talents.

According to reports, the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup will take place from May 20 through June 11 featuring twenty-four teams split evenly across six groups. Although the event was scheduled to take place in Indonesia as the second U-20 World Cup to be hosted in Southeast Asia after the 1997 edition, the plans have changed. On 29th March, FIFA has revoked Indonesia’s hosting rights owing to the protests surrounding participation of Israel.
Due to this, the host country for this tournament isn’t confirmed and even if Argentina get hosting rights as per rumors, it is unsure whether they will replace Indonesia in the main draw.
FIFA U-20 World Cup 2023: qualified teams & draw
At the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, a total of twenty-four teams will compete in the group stage with top two teams from each group bagging direct round-of-16 qualification. Additionally, four best third-place teams will qualify for the next round to complete remaining spots of the knockout stage. Although the draw for group stage hasn’t been held yet, the pots containing six teams each has been revealed.
Ukraine are the defending champions having won the previous edition in 2019 but, their failure to qualify for the tournament means they can no longer defend their title. In this tournament’s group stage, fans can see participation from five European nations and four from North America.
