The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar is edging closer and closer and we now know how the tournament will look as the groups and fixtures have been drawn
Indeed, whilst there are still three spots available for the teams yet to complete the qualification process, there are a number of interesting draws to have already been created that will have fans of the biggest football competition highly excited for the Winter.
With so much excitement possible, many will likely look at the offshore sports betting options that they have available to them in the build-up to the FIFA World Cup, whilst others will likely look at each game as a potential betting opportunity once the first whistle of the competition is blown by the referee in the match between Qatar and Ecuador.
However, whilst there will be a number of eyes interested in that first match, there are a host of other group stage fixtures that we simply can not wait to see take place! Let’s take a look at some of those below and explain why they are games that we are already looking forward to seeing!
FIFA Qatar World Cup 2022 Groups Fixtures And Teams We Can’t Wait To Watch
United States vs. England, Group B, Nov. 25
Although there is a difference in the way the sport is said – is it football or is it soccer? – this game will see two sides go up against each other in what is always going to be an interesting clash.
Granted, there is clearly a difference in the level of talent of each side, however both teams possess extraordinary attacking talent. The USMNT boasts Christian Pulisic, whilst England has a plethora of options including Harry Kane.
Let’s not forget, there is history between the two sides in this competition, with the USMNT defeating England in 1950 whilst also earning a 1-1 draw in South Africa in 2010’s edition.
Spain vs. Germany, Group E, Nov. 27
Arguably the biggest match of the entire group stage of this year’s FIFA World Cup, the fixture between Spain and Germany on November 27 will certainly have most of the world tuned in.
Admittedly, the two teams may not be as great as they have been in previous years, however they will both be widely considered to be among the favorites to win the competition. Both will, though, need to start quickly in Group E, especially with Japan and either Costa Rica or New Zealand.
Many may remember the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the fact that these two teams played in the semifinal, which saw Spain be victorious 1-0 after Carles Puyol scored in the 73rd minute before going on to defeat The Netherlands in the final.
Ghana vs. Uruguay, Group H, Dec. 2
We have already mentioned the 2010 FIFA World Cup for both games so far, but some will have instantly remembered the quarterfinal match between Uruguay and Ghana because of the actions of Luis Suarez.
The Uruguayan forward decided to handle the ball and stop it from going into the net late on and was sent off. Ghana was looking to become the first team from Africa to reach the FIFA World Cup semifinals and would have thought they would have booked their place, however Asamoah Gyan stepped up and smashed his penalty against the crossbar in the final minute of extra-time.
The South Americans would then go on to win the resulting penalty shootout and advance, before being defeated by one of that year’s finalists, The Netherlands.
