Teams from all the continents and confederations affiliated to FIFA will participate in this tournament.
The FIFA Club World Cup
The first edition of the Club World Cup took place in 2000, following which it wasn’t held from 200-2004. It later returned in 2005 and it has been held successively since then till date. This year’s edition will mark the third time that Morocco have hosted the tournament.
Morocco previously organised the tournament back in 2013 and 2014. The Club World Cup is widely considered as the successor to the Intercontinental Cup, which was abolished in 2004.
Real Madrid hold the distinction of being the top winners with 4 titles, followed by Barcelona with 3. Spain is the country with the most titles having won 7, since Real Madrid and Barcelona are both Spanish teams.
Meanwhile, the UEFA (Europe) are most successful confederation with 14 titles in total. CONMEBOL comes behind at second with 4 titles (all won by Brazilian teams) while the other confederations have never won.
