The upcoming tournament will feature teams like Real Madrid, Manchester City, PSG, and Chelsea alongside MLS franchises Inter Miami and the Seattle Sounders.
FIFA Club World Cup 2025 new format
The upcoming tournament will feature a new format with an expanded total team list of 32 teams. It will feature the champions of the six different FIFA confederations alongside major clubs from across the globe. In total, the tournament will feature 32 teams competing for the coveted trophy.
FIFA Club World Cup 2025 prize money breakdown
As of now, FIFA has not announced the exact details of the Club World Cup 2025 prize money. However, there are several reports and estimates available about the prize money breakdown. According to reports, the tournament will have a total prize fund of around $2.5 billion. Notably, even the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar had a total pot of $440 million.
Out of the total prize pool, the winners of the tournament will reportedly win $100 million. Moreover, all 32 participating teams are set to win $50 million each. This means that in comparison, each team will earn 10 times the amount of the 2023 tournament winners.
While all these numbers are impressive, they are all speculative and just estimates as of now. FIFA president Gianni Infantino is still yet to make a clear plan for the tournament’s funding. This is because they are still yet to secure all the broadcasting agreements and sponsorship deals.
FIFA Club World Cup 2025 new trophy design
Much to the delight of fans and players, the upcoming tournament will feature a new and revamped trophy design. The new trophy, designed by American jewellery-making giants Tiffany & Co., features a gorgeous gold-plated plate with intricate engravings. The trophy, is made of a 24-carat gold-plated finish with multiple laser-engraved inscriptions. It “tells the story of football’s history” in 13 languages, including Braille, alongside an image of the world map.
With a 24-carat gold-plated finish, the design of the new trophy is bold, luxurious and worthy of a champion and images and text from the sport’s rich history are engraved all over the rings of the trophy. The names of the 211 country members of FIFA are also listed on it.
Ahead of the tournament, FIFA officially revealed the new tournament trophy design during the 2025 Club World Cup draw on Dec. 5 in Miami. During the event, FIFA president Gianni Infantino produced a golden key that slotted into a lock on the back. He then released the two circular layers, which started orbiting around the central plate.
