However, UEFA is exempt from this rule since it has 12 representatives. This means that four of the eight groups will feature two European teams each.
Pot One features the four highest-ranked teams from UEFA and CONMEBOL. Meanwhile, Pot Two features the remaining eight teams from UEFA. On the other hand, Pot Three features the two highest-ranked teams from the AFC, CAF and CONCACAF, and the remaining two CONMEBOL teams. Lastly, Pot Four features the remaining teams from AFC, CAF, and CONCACAF, and the OFC representative. It also includes the host nation representative (Inter Miami).
Club World Cup 2025 start date
The newly revamped tournament will likely begin on June 15, 2025, and conclude on July 13, 2025. This year, the United States is the host country and will feature games taking place all over the country. These states include California, New Jersey, North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Washington, Florida, Tennessee, Ohio, and Washington, D.C.
2025 Club World Cup format
The upcoming edition of the Club World Cup will feature a new format featuring 32 teams divided into eight groups. All the teams in each group will play against each other in a round-robin format. Following the end of the first round, the top two teams will progress to the knockout stages.
The knockout stage starts off with the round of 16, then followed by the quarterfinals and semifinals before the final. During the knockout stage, matches that end in level after normal time will see teams competing with extra time. If the score still remains tied, the two teams will face off in a penalty shootout to determine a winner.
