On February 11, 2023, the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat hosted the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup championship game. It was contested by Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal, representing the AFC, and Spanish club Real Madrid, representing UEFA as the current UEFA Champions League champions. Real Madrid won the game 5-3 to win their eighth club global championship and fifth FIFA Club World Cup. The game had the most goals ever scored in a Club World Cup final with eight.
For Real Madrid, Vinicius opened the scoring before Fede Valverde doubled the lead of his team only five minutes later. Although Al-Hilal, reduced the deficit with a 26th minute goal from Marega, quick goals from Valverde & Benzema increased Real Madrid’s lead to 4-1. Later, Vietto scored a brace on the either side of the second goal of Vinicus. Ultimately, Real Madrid emerged victorious by score of 5-3 and clinched the 100th trophy of their prestigious history.
