Currently, European clubs have won the competition for the last ten years while only four other clubs outside of Europe have won it. Moreover, all those four clubs were from Brazil.
As such, while European teams will be looking to maintain that record, teams outside Europe will also be looking to make a historic win.
FIFA Club World Cup 2023 host nation
The Athletic revealed that Saudi Arabia will host the upcoming 2023 Club World Cup. Saudi Arabia are currently also trying to host one of the future World Cups. The country is trying their best to bring in some of the best footballing talents to their nation.
2023 Club World Cup dates
The recently concluded 2022 Club World Cup got delayed and took place this year due to the FIFA World Cup, which took place in December 2022.
However, the 2023 Club World Cup will return to its normal schedule. The tournament is expected to start on December 12 2023, with the final match on December 22 2023.
2023 Club World Cup format
The current format for the Club World Cup features seven teams competing in a knockout competition. The seven teams are the winners of the six federations’ club tournaments and the national champions of the host nation.
Given below are the list of all the six competitions of each federation:
- AFC Champions League
- CAF Champions League
- CONCACAF Champions League
- CONMEBOL Libertadores
- OFC Champions League
- UEFA Champions League
This format will however, change by 2025. This is because FIFA are aiming to create a bigger tournament featuring 32 teams instead of seven.
Tickets
Football fans already can’t wait to attend the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia. However, the tickets for the tournament are currently not available at the moment. Fans will probably have to wait a lot closer to December 2023 before they can purchase tickets for the competition.
