2022 FIDE World Fischer Random Chess Championship Last Day Results, Score, Winner, & Prize Money Distribution
At the final of 2022 FIDE World Fischer Random Chess Championship, Nakamura and Ian Nepomniachtchi were tied after four-game tie. However, Nakamura produced his best performance in tiebreaker, which helped him to clinch his maiden world championship title in Reykjavik. Meanwhile in third-place playoff, teenage prodigy Nodirbek Abdusattorov was defeated by reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen, who fought back from a 1-0 deficit to clinch podium finish.
In order to finish fourth, Vladimir Fedoseev outperformed the incumbent champion Wesley So by score of 3-1. Elsewhere, Matthias Bluebaum defeated local player Hjorvar Gretarsson to finish in seventh position. Following these results, Hikaru Nakamura has bagged prize money of $150,000 as champion and runner-up Nepomniachtchi received $85,000 prize money.
