The FIDE Grand Prix 2022 is a chess tournament series that will take place between February 3 and April 4, 2022. Belgrade Grand Prix is the second leg out of scheduled three-leg system at FIDE Grand Prix.
FIDE Belgrade Chess Grand Prix 2022 Leg 2 Schedule And Dates
The top two finishers will go to the Candidates Tournament 2022, the last round of qualification for the World Chess Championship 2023. Two tournaments will be held in Berlin, Germany, and one will be held in Belgrade, Serbia.
Currently, the second tournament of FIDE Grand Prix is taking place at Belgrade, Serbia. This tournament is scheduled to run from 1st March to 14th March. The matches will begin at 15:00 CET (19:30 IST) every day.
- March 1-7 – Group stage (with a rest day on Saturday, March 5)
- 8th March – Group stage tiebreaks
- March 9-11 – Semifinals
- March 12-14 – Final
On 7th March, all Belgrade Grand Prix pools will conclude, thereby confirming the four players for playoffs.
Tournament Format
The 16 competitors are divided into four groups of four in the first stage, with each group competing in a double round-robin mini-tournament. The top four finishers in each pool advance to the next round.
The four pool winners compete in a knockout tournament with semi-finals and a final in the second stage. In both the semi-finals and finals, there will be two conventional time limit games, as well as tie-breaks if necessary.

The winner of the tournament will get 13 points and the runner-up of the tournament will earn 10 points. These points will be calculated towards FIDE Grand Prix 2022.

Belgrade FIDE Chess Grand Prix 2022 Leg 2 Day 5 Results, Pool, Players, And Standings
The double round-robin stage will involve six rounds of regular time control games on March 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7, followed by tie-breaks on March 8. The champions of each pool will progress to the knockout round.
On the fifth day of Belgrade Grand Prix, six out of eight matches ended as a tie. Rapport defeated Vidit Gujrathi in Round 5 of the Belgrade Grand Prix, taking the lead in Group C, while the rest of the standings remained unchanged.
In Pool C, both games were settled but Pool A, B, and D saw both games tied on Day-5. Anish Giri, the clear leader in Pool B with a full point advantage, is on the verge of qualifying for the semi-finals.
