Belgrade FIDE Chess Grand Prix 2022 Leg Final Results, Scores, Winner
Rapport held the white pieces on the second day of the final and played consistently. Rapport gambled heavily with very little time remaining on the clock and was rewarded with a few sub-par moves by Andreikin, and White was suddenly winning, comfortably parrying Andreikin’s frantic effort at a perpetual check at the finish.
With the victory at Belgrade Grand Prix, Richard Rapport appears to be a strong favourite to qualify for the Candidates tournament as one of the two Grand Prix qualifiers. Andreikin, on the other side, must prepare emotionally for the third leg, which begins on March 24, 2022.
