Points are deducted by following these criteria in case of a Tiebreaker

1 Yellow – A single yellow card picked up by a player will result in 1 point deduction from the team.

1 Direct Red cad – A straight sent-off in the world cup will prove very costly for the teams now. – 4 points will be deducted in such a case.

Indirect Red Card – Red card given followed by 2 yellows will result in a deduction of 3 points.

1 Yellow and a direct red card – In such case 5 points are deducted.

The team which will have more points following these criteria will progress through the tiebreaker.

If the points still remain after the card count then the winner will be declared in a random selection of chits from the lots.

Things to keep in mind when the cards are given

The fair play will only be applicable in the group stage games.

A player who gets a yellow card in two separate games will receive a suspension for the next game.

The card count will reset in the semifinal round.
