After leading for all the 71 laps in the Styrian Grand Prix and finishing the race by a huge margin of 35 seconds, Max Verstappen will be high on confidence after securing the fastest lap in FP1 with a lap time of one minute 05.143secs.

F1 Austrian GP Battle for the pole position
Young Dutchman is in an excellent form ahead of the Austrain Grand Prix qualifier on Saturday as he set the fastest lap time of one minute 05.143secs in the FP1. Tight turns at sector two proved tricky for some drivers as many cars were tip-toing on the gravel.
Disregarding the failures in Azerbaijan, Pirelli instructed to use a new component tyre to be tested in Austria with each driver obliged to complete at least 12 laps of running across two sets of tires across the Friday practice sessions.
Lando Norris spinned at turn 2 and turn 10 frequently locking his brake and even missed the barrirers at turn 10 when his car turned around and started wandering. Many drivers were facing issues with braking and were tip-toing on thr gravel.
Ferrari had no problem in FP1 as both the drivers showcased excellent pace in the morning practice session. Leclerc finished second ahead of his teammate Carlos Sainz who took third place and looked promising ahead of the FP2.
Fernando Alonso, George Russell and Antonio Giovinazzi all were out of FP1 with Guanyu Zhou, Roy Nissany and Callum Ilott in the driving seats. Guanyu Zhou had an impressive practice session as he managed to finish fourteenth.
Lewis Hamilton confident after topping FP2
Mercedes made a terrific comeback in the FP2 as both Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen secured a Mercedes one-two at the top of the summit. Mercedes were frustrated in the first practice session but managed to squeeze the most wanted pace which they were missing in their car.
Lewis Hamilton timed the fastest lap of FP2 by one minute 04.523secs with Valterri Bottas and Max Verstappen behind him. He is confident ahead of the qualifying on Saturday as Mercedes were cruising in the practice session.
Aston Martin managed to squeze some pace out of their car and finished 4th and 5th after Max Verstappen who felt he was slower in FP2.
“From our side, we didn’t have a perfect run in FP2 but nevertheless I felt good in the car and there are no real problems,” said Verstappen.
