Why Does Steph Curry Chew On His Mouthguard During NBA Games
Curry’s mouthpiece would be unnoticeable if he wore it regularly. During games, though, he is continuously chewing on it, and he particularly likes doing it near the free-throw line. When shooting from the charity stripe, he prefers to press it to one side of his lips.

In 2015, Stephen Curry told Jimmy Kimmel that tampering with his mouthguard has been “absolutely a habit” of his since his days at Davidson. He was accidentally smacked in the face by Jon Brick of The Citadel during a game in 2007.
“In my junior year of college, I was elbowed and my lip was ripped open. As a result, I started using a mouthpiece in every game after that “Curry informed Jimmy Kimmel about it. “And then it’s gotten farther and farther away from my teeth every year.”
