The emblem is designed by an artist named Lin Cunzhen. The emblem of Beijing 2022 combines the traditional and modern elements of Chinese culture, along with the features that embody the passion and vitality of winter sports.
It is inspired by ๅฌ, which is the Chinese character for the word โwinterโ. The emblem of the Beijing Winter Olympics resembles a skater at the top and a skier at the bottom. The flowing ribbon-like motif between them symbolizes rolling mountains, Olympic venues, ski pistes, and skating rinks of the host countries. It also aims to focus on the points that the Games will coincide with the Chinese New Year.
The use of colour blue in the emblem represents dreams, the future, and the purity of ice and snow. On the other hand, red and yellow represent the colors of Chinaโs national flag that symbolizes passion, youth, and vitality.

The motto of the mega winter sporting event that is to be held in Chinaโs capital city Beijing, represents the power of the Games to overcome global challenges as a community, with a shared future for humankind. The words of the motto aim on highlighting the importance for the world to come and work together for a better tomorrow, especially during the difficulties faced throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
โTogether for a Shared Futureโ represents unity and a collectiveness of people and their effort. It represents and teaches us the core values and vision of the Olympic Movement, and the goal of pursuing world unity, peace, and progress. The motto is considered as the most important value of the Paralympic Games, in particular the role they play in contributing to a more inclusive society.
The motto for the global sporting event was selected after a deep and intense research process between May and September 2020. During this time period, Beijing 2022 collected 79 motto proposals from different Chinese universities, from which only 11 universities were shortlisted by experts from various fields.

The Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympics Winter Games Beijing 2022 launched a series of official and promotional posters during the opening ceremony of the 2021 Beijing Design Week. There were three official sets of Beijing 2022 posters that feature the Eventโs emblem and mascots, along with the 11 promotional posters that were selected from thousands of entries that were received for a design competition.
The posters of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics feature various elements of winter sports along with the Chinese culture, and highlight the Beijing 2022 motto “Together for a Shared Futureโ.
For the promotional posters of the event, the Beijing 2022 Organising Committee had launched a public call for submissions during the Beijing International Design Week last year. But they received an overwhelming response of more than 1,500 entries from hundreds of design institutions, professionals, design school teachers, and students.
The final 11 promotional posters of the winter Olympics aim to focus on the various elements of the Olympic Winter Games, Chinese culture, winter sports in society, and Beijing cityscapes.
