The BCCI are set to reveal the status of the Gujarat based team which was bought by the CVC Group to partake in the showpiece league starting IPL 2022.

The CVC Group has a string of investments in betting based companies in the UK, something the BCCI has approached a retired Supreme Court judge to seek advice over.
Just 48 hours after CVC Sports had bought the Ahmedabad team for ₹5,625 crores, legal questions rose with CVCCP questioned for business with international betting firms. However, with CVC Asia which bought the franchise not having link to betting companies, the BCCI is set to give the go ahead to the side.
“CVC has two funds, European funds and Asian funds. While its European funds have links with (sports) betting companies, where betting is legal, its Asian fund is clean. And they invested from their Asian fund. That’s the understanding. Still, the BCCI is likely to form a committee in a few days to be doubly sure,” a BCCI board member who had attended the AGM said.
Incase, the BCCI decides against having the CVC Group as the owner, rebidding is set to take place with the governing council set to reject the tradition of handing over the team to the second highest bidder.
