Rhaenyra Targaryen, the heir to the Iron Throne, and Ser Laenor Velaryon were engaged, so Criston implored the Princess to live a life without a name with him before they fled to Essos to live out their days. Criston probably isn’t a violent homophobe. His anger and envy were clearly his driving forces. Rhaenyra’s husband’s confrontation with Joffrey, who admitted his own love for Laenor, pushed him over the edge after he had voiced his lack of willingness to maintain a covert relationship with Rhaenyra after her marriage. He wasn’t content with only serving as the future Queen’s sidekick. Therefore, Criston reacted negatively when Joffrey suggested that they protect one another by keeping each other’s secrets safe.

Shortly after we saw Laenor approach the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, there was a fight that culminated with Criston pounding Joffrey’s face into a pulp. Audiences observed Prince Daemon Targaryen stealing his niece Rhaenyra for a dance in the interim. But what he actually desired was a quiet exchange of words in High Valyrian. Rhaenyra retorted that she was merely carrying out her duty, provoking Daemon into making a hasty choice, and jokingly suggested that if he was sincere about a future with her, he should kill King Viserys Targaryen’s troops before snatching her away to Dragonstone.

Criston may have heard this talk, but it’s unclear if he could have understood what they were saying in their native tongue. But even if he had been able to understand what they were saying, he would have been indignant.

It’s also conceivable that he was merely observing their body language. And quick looks before venting his annoyance on the person closest to him. Then again, it’s possible that he was going to acquire what Criston could never have, and he only wanted to hurt Laenor. Will Criston now face punishment for the murder?

Ser Criston Will Be Prosecuted, Right?

After the pre-wedding party’s tumultuous conclusion, Criston left. Before taking a shortsword and laying it in front of his abdomen, he took off his armour. But just when he seemed to be about to kill himself, Queen Alicent Hightower came.

It will be fascinating to watch how Criston’s adventure develops as House of the Dragon moves forward. With a time jump and casts a flurry of new actors in some of the roles. Rhaenyra’s future is particularly problematic. Because she will get married again after her first one, and her pursuit of absolute power will lead to The Dance of the Dragons.
