The current WWE and Universal champion explained how the name was spontaneous and just came up in a random manner.
Head Of The Table Nickname, Complete Backstory Explained
Roman Reigns explained that the nickname just came out in the spur-of-the-moment. He recalled how he randomly called himself that during a SmackDown segment with his cousin, Jey Uso, before WWE Clash of Champions 2020.
It was there right then that he had a gut feeling that this nickname would stick to him. He explained that he called himself the “Head of The Table” without any preparation because he naturally cuts his promos and doesn’t believe in scripted material by writers.
Roman clarified that memorizing the lines is stressful for him and he ends up forgetting them live. Roman said:
I try not to be too detailed…If I’m thinking about lines and trying to memorize stuff, it’s stressful to me. It’s never worked for me that way.
A Fitting Nickname
Despite his claims about the nickname being random, an old footage from 2014 shows Roman Reigns talking about himself taking the rightful place at the “Head of The Table”
