On February 8, Brown hurt his face during a game against the Philadelphia 76ers. He skipped four games, but on February 19, he came back to the court with a black face mask on. According to Jaylen Brown, the injury hasn’t fully healed yet. “I think what they said, like, you got like six weeks until the cartilage starts to grow back so youâre, I guess, safe if you were to take another hit,â he said. “But you still got like another six weeks before I guess it fully gets back to where it is or where itâs supposed to be.”
Some fans have asked why Brown keeps wearing the mask when he doesn’t need to, but the Celtics star has said that he likes wearing it and feels safe in it. In fact, he’s even received encouragement from his mom to keep it on. “My mom wants me to wear it, so Iâll probably keep wearing it,” he said.
