After his fantastic IPL 2022 campaign for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, there was a lot of talk on social media regarding his return to the national blue colours.
Despite the fact that Karthik didn’t get much of a chance to bat – he only faced two balls and scored one run – the 37-year-old had the spectators talking about the unusual helmet that he wore to bat in the middle.
Unlike the helmets worn by most batters, Karthik wore a unique and rarely seen helmet. It was much more gleaming than the regular ones, and it shone brightly in the light. It also appeared to be much more compact and fitted on Karthik’s face than other batsmen’s.

DK wore this unusual headgear at the recently finished IPL, and he has worn similar helmets throughout his career.
One theory concerning Karthik’s helmets is that he has them custom-made for him; the lighter helmet benefits him in running and doesn’t put pressure on his head as much as the heavier ones do.
Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara, as well as former England batsmen James Taylor and Michael Carberry, all wore similar helmets while playing.

Dinesh Karthik’s explosive performances in the IPL 2022 have slammed the door in the faces of national selection. For RCB, the 37-year-old played the finisher’s role to a tee: he hit 330 runs at a strike rate of 183 and was unquestionably the tournament’s top finisher.
