India days before the start of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics announced that they will be imposing a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022, know the reason
This came after Beijing’s decision on having Qi Fabao, a PLA regiment commander who sustained a head injury while fighting in the Galwan Valley border clash with India, as torchbearer during the ‘Torch Relay’. This was a political move to try and force a message down the world’s throat despite having incited the incident at the LAC and attacked the Indian army in violation of the protocols.
Know The Reason Behind India Announcing A Diplomatic Boycott Of The Winter Olympics 2022 Beijing
Arindam Bagchi, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), called this decision “regrettable” in one of his weekly media briefings. He along with that also announced that India’s top diplomat will not attend the opening and closing ceremonies of the event held in Beijing, which has been “politicized” by China.
He further mentioned, “Yes, we have seen the reports on this issue. It is indeed regrettable that the Chinese side has chosen to politicize an event like the Olympics.”
“I wish to inform you that the Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of India in Beijing will not be attending the opening or the closing ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics,” he further added.
"I applaud India for joining diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Olympics. We stand with all countries that reject the CCP’s heinous human rights abuses & cold-blooded effort to turn Olympics 2022 into a political victory lap," says Chairman, US Senate Foreign Relations Committee. pic.twitter.com/LoLcl2FyLC

India in a stressful clash with China had lost 20 soldiers in that. That clash was the deadliest since the 1962 war in one of the worst clashes that took place in June 2020 in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh’s eastern sector.
But on the other hand, China claimed that only four soldiers were killed, but a new investigative report by the Australian newspaper “The Klaxon,” suggests that at least 38 Chinese troops drowned in the early stages of the June 15-16 battle while attempting to cross back over the Galwan River in the dark.
Pradeep Kumar Rawat, India’s Ambassador to China, whose appointment was announced earlier in December, is also expected to get hold of responsibilities within a few weeks, and hence the Charge d’Affaires Acquino Vimal is the top diplomat in Beijing at present.
Mr. Vimal and other officials are expected to attend the ceremonial functions at the mega sporting event but the MEA had denied political or high-level representation from Delhi.
Also, to bring in one notice that Shashi Shekhar Vempati, the chief of Prasar Bharti tweeted that “consequent to the announcement by the MEA”, Doordarshan’s sports channel would not telecast the Olympic ceremonies, as planned earlier.
List Of Countries Which Had Boycotted The Winter Olympics And Why
Other countries that boycotted the opening and closing ceremony, along with the absence of their diplomat in the whole event are the U.S., Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, and a number of European countries including Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the Czech Republic, but they will be sending athletes and sports officials in a proper manner, but no diplomatic or political presence, in protest of China’s restrictions on its Uighur population in Xinjiang and other human rights abuses along with it persistently occupying the land of its neighboring countries and waging a war with them to further its propaganda.
On the other hand, in this course of time, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, Presidents of five Central Asian republics Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are also due to attend the opening ceremony of the mega event on 4th of February, Friday.
The Russian president, Mr. Putin is also expected to conduct a meeting with the Chinese President Xi Jinping and, along with a statement before the visit of Mr. Khan’s visit, the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Mr. Khan would meet Mr. Xi and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and conclude a number of bilateral agreements.
