Ever since he purchased the social microblogging website Twitter, Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, has made headlines. The way Twitter is run has changed significantly since Musk took control. In a significant revelation, Musk also stated that users of Twitter will have to pay $8 to get their accounts verified on the service.
It was also reported that Twitter will split categories into three divisions, each of which will be shown in a different colour, replacing the current blue accounts.
What does the golden check mark signify?
India saw the effects of the modifications on December 13 when users were shocked to see golden ticks next to some accounts. Starting on Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which had blue ticks on all of its official accounts prior, had golden ticks.
A gold tick has been given to verified businesses or official business accounts in accordance with Twitter’s new policy. Grey for authenticated government accounts and blue as usual for private accounts.
Musk unveiled three distinct checks in the colours Gold, Grey, and Blue.
Elon Musk, the company’s CEO, made the news on the microblogging platform last month. “We apologise for the delay and plan to deploy Verified on Friday of the following week. All verified accounts will be manually authenticated before the check activates, with gold checks for businesses, grey checks for governments, blue checks for people (famous or not), “Musk stated.
The BCCI has been granted a golden tick rather than a blue one because it is an independent organisation and does not belong under the National Sports Federation of India. The official account of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), on the other hand, has a blue tick.
