The military conflict between Russia and Ukraine is getting crucial day by day is also an emerging concern for the final of the UEFA Champions League that is scheduled to be played in a Russian City.

Will The Venue Of The Champions League Final 2021-22 Be Shifted From Russia

According to some reports, the European Governing body of football is currently “monitoring” the situation with the conflict between Russia and Ukraine to change the location of the final Champions League game.

The final is scheduled for 28th May at the Russian city named Gazprom Arena in St. Petersburg.

Because of the increasingly crucial situations in the country following President Vladimir Putin announcing a decision to send troops into Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region, UEFA has come under difficulty to change the decided location for the final switching it somewhere else.

What is the situation now for the Champion League final venue?

It is not decided yet and the location continues to stay where it has already been decided but at the same time, the officials are monitoring the conditions and circumstances currently and understanding to consider a change in plans.

What are the chances of the Champions League final location to be switched? 

UEFA has already suspended the Youth League last-16 tie fixture of Dynamo Kyiv and Sporting Lisbon that was organised to be played in Ukraine’s capital on March 2, postponing it to March 9 with more further decisions to be taken.

It is not the first time that UEFA is considering location change. The location was changed for the previous two seasons as well because of the critical conditions following COVID-19. If the situations are not in control, the governing body will be forced to change its location to somewhere new, “any decision would be made in due course if necessary”.

Meanwhile, the prime minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson said, “no chance of holding football tournaments in a Russia that invades sovereign countries,” as reported by BBC.
