Celtics Honor Legendary SAM JONES:
It’s in honor of former Celtic Sam Jones, who won 10 championships with Boston and was a key figure in their legendary dynasty.
Jones was a member of the Celtics from 1957-58 to 1968-69. The Celtics retired his No. 24 jersey in 1969, and it now hangs in the rafters.
Jones was the first African-American basketball player elected into North Carolina’s Sports Hall of Fame. He was named one of the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players of All Time in 1996.
