The addition of the lightning bolt is one of the most significant updates to TikTok in recent memory, joining the previously existing Home, Plus, Inbox, and Profile tabs.
What Is The Meaning Of Lightning Bolt Feature On TikTok
Lightning bolt represents the new BeReal-like functionality TikTok Now. Now, which debuted in November, sends users notifications asking them to share a photo or 10-second video at certain times throughout the day.

It enables you to take a picture of what you’re doing right now using both the front and rear cameras, and then to send that picture to your friends as a single image. This app’s concept is now identical to that of BeReal, a French social media app in which users upload a single photo at an unpredictable moment every day.
In 2022, the app will have gone viral after being released the year before with a feature that alerts all users at once to take and post a photo within two minutes.
How To Use TikTok After The Lightning Bold Feature Update?
To get started, just hit the lightning bolt at the very bottom of the screen. Then, after waiting three minutes, click “Post” and do your first “Now.” After that, you’ll be reminded to record your present moment each day at a certain time. This function can be disabled in Preferences.
TikTok announced in a press release on September 15 that they are “experimenting” with the feature, so it may seem different to some users. The TikTok Now is a standalone app in some countries, although for the vast majority of users it is integrated into the main TikTok app (the one with the lightning bolt icon).

Who Can Use TikTok After Lightning Bolt Update?
Underage users’ TikTok Now content is restricted to their mutual friends exclusively. These are the people you’re following and following back on Twitter. The “Friends can view” option is selected automatically. Adults, however, have the option of broadcasting their content to the entire TikTok Now audience.
You can change the default setting on the Post screen from “Friends can view” to “Everyone”. Now you can’t commented on or interacted on post if you don’t follow the account.
