What Is Ghost Trails Feature On Snapchat?

With Snapchat’s new premium membership, you can access the Ghost Trails feature, a unique feature that allows you to see where your friends have gone during the last 24 hours.

You may track your friend’s travel from one area to another on the Snapchat map if they have made their location available. This implies that users of Snapchat+ who have paid the subscription fee can click on a friend’s Bitmoji to view all the places they have visited recently.

It not only displays the places they’ve gone, but also a yellow line that depicts the precise path they took to get there.

Why Did Ghost Trail Feature Get So Much Backlash?

Ever since Snapchat+ and its features went public, many features attracted a lot of praise but the “dangerous ghost trail feature” faced lots of criticism because of its dubious nature.

The premium function has drawn a lot of criticism from people who find it to be extremely unsettling and hazardous.

The ability to track a person’s movements throughout the day, according to many, makes it simpler for illegal activities like stalking to occur.

Many users are voicing their displeasure over this feature on different platforms.

As one user wrote on Twitter,

Snapchat ghost trails. WHY?? I can see no healthy reason of wanting to know exactly where someone has been in the last day. It’s just making it easier for abusers to stalk and control their victims movements, making it harder to get help. @Snapchat remove this instantly, please.

Another user wrote,

Are @Snapchat aware that “ghost trails” are basically encouraging stalking or..

As of the time of writing, the app hasn’t replied to the demands for Snapchat to remove the function.

How To Turn Off Sharing Location?

It’s best to use Ghost Mode on Snapchat so that nobody can follow your movements. As a result, neither your friends nor your Bitmoji will be able to see where you are on the Snapchat map.

To access the settings, go to the Snapchat map and click the cog symbol in the upper right corner. Then drag the bar over to the right of “Ghost Mode.”

No one will be able to find your position and your Ghost Trail is automatically removed for everyone. By using the “My Friends Except” or “Only These Friends” settings, you may also limit who can see your location and Ghost Trail.
