In the 2022 Winter Olympics, there will be a total of 109 medal events across the following 15 sports, know about the freestyle skiing mixed team aerials at the games

One of them will be the new freestyle skiing mixed team aerials, where the participants of this sport will give a jaw-dropping aerial performance with acrobatic twists and flips in the air after skiing off a ramp.
Also, a great thing to notice is that this event will see nations sending three athletes with at least one from each gender, so can have two women and one man or vice versa.
What Is Freestyle Skiing Mixed Team Aerials Event At Winter Olympics 2022, Format, Rules, Players, Scoring
China, the host nation is itself the favorite contender to win with all 11 of China’s freestyle skiing Olympic medals coming in aerials. The event is featured in the Olympics for the first time in Beijing 2022. This event has been included in the FIS Freestyle Skiing World Cup program back in the 2014/15 season and since then it has continued and, it was also included in the FIS World Championships since 2019.
Each team will consist of three skiers and, the team must be of mixed gender. Thus, the teams can decide if they want to have two men and one woman or two women and one man. Their individual score will be added all together and, the team that will score the highest overall score will win.
At Beijing 2022, all teams in this sport with at least one woman and one man are eligible for the individual aerials competitions that will give the opportunity to enter one trio for the mixed team aerials. The competition will have at least eight eligible teams.
How To Follow The Mixed Team Aerials At Beijing 2022
The mixed team aerials will be played on 10th February. The first final will be played at 19:00 local time. The second final will start at 19:50, after deciding the event’s first Olympic medallists.
Unlike other mixed sports, where the number of men and women competing are the same, the mixed team aerials event has allowed their teams to choose between having two women and one man or vice-versa.
In this sport, the tricks done by men are riskier, which might lead to a fall even. One thing in a team event that should be kept in mind is that one cannot commit any mistake as any mistake will lead to out of contention for medals. But one has to take risks as it is essential to winning any freestyle skiing event. Whom to look out for?
This sport needs a lot of stamina and cooperation, thus a strong team is needed to win the mixed team aerials. A very few NOCs will take part in the Beijing 2022 as favorites.
The top contenders are ROC who also won the World Championship this year, with Liubov Nikitina, Pavel Krotov, and Maxim Burov in the team – the world champion in the individual event in 2019 and 2021 – among their ranks.
ROC, who also won the bronze in 2019 along with Nikitina and Burov on the team and, to keep in mind is that they have seven medals to their name at the World Cup in the mixed team event.
Switzerland is also a team to keep eye on as they took home the gold in 2019 and silver in 2021 in the previous two World Championships. Carol Bouvard and Noé Roth competed in both tournaments, with Pirmin Werner replacing Nicolas Gygax this year.
But we should not underestimate the home team, the People’s Republic of China, especially when they are playing at their home ground as all of the Olympic medals of Chinese freestyle skiing have come in aerials which includes one gold, four silvers, and six bronzes.
XU Mengtao is also a very strong candidate to make the experienced Chinese team. She won the Olympic silver medal at the Sochi 2014, world champion 2013and is a three-time World Cup winner of 2018, 2019, and 2020.
Jia Zongyang in men’s aerials bronze medallist at Sochi 2014 and silver medallist at PyeongChang 2018, along with two-time world champion of 2013, 2015.
QI Guangpu has the chance of joining the competition list to secure the first mixed aerials Olympic gold for the hosts.
