Elon Musk terminates Twitter deal

Musk has shared a letter for termination of the deal. The letter states, that he is not buying Twitter because there has been a “misleading representation” about the number of fake accounts on the platform.

He also claimed that the company had not provided him with the data he required to analyze the business.

Musk’s lawyer, Mike Ringler, also claimed that the company tried to conceal some information that was critical to the deal’s completion.

Twitter’s Response

Twitter has responded head-on to the billionaire’s accusations. On July 10th, Twitter shared a public letter addressed to Musk’s lawyer. The letter states that Elon Musk’s action to terminate his $44 billion purchase of the social media company is “invalid and wrongful.”

“Twitter has breached none of its obligations under the Agreement.”, said legal counsel William Savitt of the firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz who are part of the legal team of the social media platform.

Before this, Twitter’s chairman, Bret Taylor addressed Elon Musk for pulling out of the deal and tweeted, “The Twitter Board is committed to closing the transaction on the price and terms agreed on with Mr. Musk and plans to pursue legal action to enforce the merger agreement. We are confident we will prevail in the Delaware Court of Chancery.”
