  1. Open the Instagram app and search the username of the person you want to mute. 
  2. Open their profile and click on the following button.
  3. A pop up menu, will appear, click on the Mute option.
  4. Choose if you want to mute their posts or stories, or both.

Steps to Mute Instagram Messages

  1. Open Instagram and go to the messages tab on the top right corner.
  2. Select the person you want to mute and click on their name on the chat box.
  3. Tap on ‘mute messages’ and ‘mute call notifications’
It’s that simple!

You will not be bothered by continuous notifications and continuous pop ups on your feed anymore, and the other person will not be notified of this action. Similar features are available in other Meta applications like Facebook and Whatsapp.
