Tokyo Sports says that on Tuesday, Kitamura felt sick and called an ambulance to take him to the hospital. But a report from his home country says that after that, his health “changed dramatically,” which led to his death.

The 36-year-old passed away on October 12th with the former wrestler felt “unwell” and called an ambulance.

The wrestler and bodybuilder who used to work for New Japan Pro Wrestling was called “The Wrestling Monster” because he was 6 feet tall and weighed 265 pounds. Kitamura started wrestling professionally in 2017 with New Japan. He won three All Japan Championships in a row in the Greco-Roman 96 kg wrestling class.

In the same year, he also won the Young Lion Cup. Many people thought Katsuya Kitamura would become a big star in the squared circle. But at the Ibaraki tournament in March 2018, he got a concussion and had to drop out of the tournament.

After getting hurt again in practise on January 31, 2019, he quit the team and gave up pro wrestling.

Kitamura had a successful amateur wrestling career when he was young, but he couldn’t go to the Olympics because he tested positive for anabolic steroids and was banned for two years. Instead, he started bodybuilding.

He then joined RIZIN and made his MMA debut in November of last year. However, Bobby Ologun beat him with a rear-naked choke in the second round, and he lost. Kitamura was also a YouTuber with a channel called “Bulk Academy Katsuya Kitamura.” His net worth stood at $1 million.

As word spread that he had died, fans took to Twitter to honour the late star. “Rest in peace, Katsuya Kitamura. What a tragedy,” one person wrote. Another person said, “Wow, that’s terrible news. RIP Katsuya Kitamura.”

Another person tweeted, “I’m shocked to hear that Katsuya Kitamura is 36 years old. Guy was having the time of his life. Like he did, live life to the fullest!”

What Was His Early Work Life Like?

Before he became a professional wrestler, Kitamura was one of the biggest amateur wrestlers in all of Japan. He was very good at what he did. Because he was so big and strong, people called him “The Wrestling Monster.”

Katsuya Kitamura went to Senshu University and was on the wrestling team there. In 2006, he won the 120 kg division of the All Japan Wrestling Championship. Later that same year, he represented Japan at the World Championships.

During his time as an amateur, Kitamura won three national championships and twice stood in for Japan on a global stage. Kitamura has done both amateur and professional wrestling. In 2015, he took part in the Ganry-jima fighting tournament and beat a Mongolian Sumo wrestler.
