Corey Benjamin who used to play in the NBA has publicly apologised for his daughter Cori sucker punching Lauryn Ham
Ever since a video had emerged of a girl getting knocked out at a youth girl basketball game, all hell had broken lose.
Video which had emanated of the incident showed an unprovoked Cori Benjamin, the daughter of ex-NBA player Corey Benjamin falling to the ground after she attempted a triple. Lauryn Ham who was guarding her had concurrently gone down as well.

Corey Benjamin Apologises After His Daughter Cori Knocks Out Lauryn Ham
However, things turned ugly as both the girls got back on their feet with 14 year old Cori soon turning around to land a sucker punch on Ham. Lauryn who was immediately knocked out went onto sustain a concussion from the blow, one which saw her miss out on school for a raft of days. Video of the incident also showed Cori’s mother exhorting her to punch Ham from the stands.
Corey Benjamin has now gone onto apologise for his daughter’s antics after the video went viral.
“To the young lady who was punched, I sincerely apologize, and I am praying for your complete healing both physically and emotionally. As a father I’m shocked and disappointed at my daughter’s behavior, as this is not a reflection of the values and standards that my family holds, nor does it exemplify the values, character and spirit of sportsmanship that the game of basketball requires,” Corey went onto say.
Corey had played in the NBA from 1998-2001 and in 2003. He was the 28th overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft and played for both the Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Hawks.
