Chandramouli Biswas found dead
Chandramouli, the former bassist of the band Fossil, was recently found dead in his home in Kolkata. His former bandmates, Rupam Islam and others, confirmed the news about his death while paying tribute to the late musician. Rupam Islam, who is the band’s lead vocalist, shared:
We have performed on this stage 21 times. Out of these, the picture of the person who was with us 16 times is on the screen behind us. When we came here, we received a piece of news in the car, and that news hit us like a thunderbolt. In such a situation, no one can sing.”
He furhter added:
No one can play an instrument. But the Bengali rock crowd is in front of us. Chandra was our companion for a long time. I have no hesitation in saying today that he was my best friend. We were in touch until last year.”
Cause of death
According to police reports, Chandramouli Biswas reportedly passed away from suspected suicide. Chandramouli was alone at home during the time of his death as his parents were away. His friend Mehul Chakraborty found the dead body hanging in his rented apartment on Indian Mirror Street in Kolkata. Following which, he immediately informed the police. Mehul had been trying to reach out to him since morning but got worried and went to his house with another friend in the afternoon. As of now, police are still investigating the matter.

Chandramouli was a part of Fossils for 18 years, from 2000 to 2018. He was also associated with two other bands, ‘Golak’ and ‘Zombie Cage Control’. Biswas initially joined the band as a guitarist and later became a bassist.
According to Kolkata Police’s preliminary findings, Chandramouli had been struggling with depression and financial difficulties, with reports indicating a lack of work opportunitiesand a a suicide note was recovered from the scene, which is now being examined by Kolkata Police as part of the investigation. He was an engineering graduate from Jadavpur University.
While his relationship details are unknown, he was believed to be single and unmarried.
