Jacoby Rashi’d Jones was an American professional football player who was born on July 11, 1984, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. He played as a wide receiver and return specialist in the National Football League, mainly for the Baltimore Ravens. Jacoby passed away on July 14, 2024 in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. He was a very versatile player, excelling both as a receiver and a returner.

His mother is named Emily and while he had a son named Jacoby Jr, he was single and unmarried at the time of his death. Jones leaves behind a net worth of $8 million.

Jacoby Jones attended the Southeastern Louisiana University from 2002–2003 on a track scholarship. He later but transferred to the Division II school Lane College the following year in 2003. During his time at Lane College, Jones became a three-time All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). He was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

Jacoby Jones career

Jones started his NFL career in 2007 after the Houston Texans drafted him in the third round as the 73rd overall pick of the 2007 NFL draft. He scored first touchdown reception against the Tennessee Titans during week 2 of the 2009 season and continued to be a relatively valuable player.

One of his most notable moments was his performance in the Ravens’ Super Bowl XLVII victory against the San Francisco 49ers in 2013 where he played a key role. Jones was renowned for his speed and playmaking abilities and even Jones made history with a 108-yard kickoff return. It was recorded as the longest play in Super Bowl history.

Jacoby Jones also became the first-ever player to catch a touchdown and score on a return in the same Super Bowl. Following his retirement, Jones began coaching at various teams starting off as a wide receivers coach at Lane College. He later coached at Calvert Hall High School, Morgan State, and Alabama State. He last worked as the head coach and offensive coordinator for the Beaumont Renegades.
