Bill Kenwright, full name William Kenwright CBE was an English West End theatre producer and film producer who was born on 4 September 1945 in Liverpool, England. He was also the chairman of Everton Football Club for two decades, from 2004 up until his death in 2023. He passed away on 23 October 2023.

Kenwright began his education at the Booker Avenue County Primary School. He then attended the Liverpool Institute High School for Boys from 1957 to 1964.

According to reports, Bill Kenwright passed away following complications from a liver cancer on October 23, 2023. Back on October 12, 2023, Everton Football Club issued an official update about Bill Kenwright’s health status. According to the statement, a diagnosis back in early August, showed that Bill Kenwright underwent a significant medical procedure just several weeks before doctors removed a cancerous tumor from his liver. Although the procedure was initially deemed successful, unfortunate complications came up during the surgery. As a result, he had to undergo an extended stay in an intensive care unit.

Bill started out participating in school productions, where he took on notable roles like Shylock in “The Merchant of Venice.” He also served as the Christian Union at his school during this period. Aside from theatre, Kenwright also served as a judge on the 2007 BBC One television series, “Any Dream Will Do.”

Back in 2001, Kenwright received a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2001 New Year’s Honours List. He was honored with the achievement in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the fields of film and theatre. Bill further received an Honorary Fellowship from Liverpool’s John Moores University for his dedication and commitment to British theatre. He also received an Honorary Professor from the University of West London in London.

Bill also received an Honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) degree in November 2008 from the Nottingham Trent University. Aside from his achievements in entertainment, Bill Kenwright also participated in the BBC show “Pointless Celebrities” on 3 January 2014. During the show, Bill and his wife Jenny Seagrove, reached the final round and won the Pointless trophy.
