At the European Championships, the top badminton players from Europe compete for the championships, know the schedule and where to watch
The reigning champion in the European Championships is Viktor Axelsen, who won the men’s singles gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He is aiming to win his fourth overall championship. Carolina Marin, the women’s singles Olympic champion from Rio 2016, presently has six titles and is aiming for seven.

Axelsen enters the competition fresh off a dominant victory in the Super 1000 event Indonesia Open, where the 29-year-old Dane upset the hometown favourite Anthony Ginting. In Indonesia, Marin also had excellent form, making it all the way to the finals before falling to 2020 Olympic winner Chen Yufei of China.
Denmark earned medals in four out of the five disciplines at the European Championships last year, but just one of those was a gold. They plan to add to the six medals they won the year before. The only nation to do so was Germany, which took home gold in both the men’s and mixed doubles events.
All five competitions at the 2023 European Games count towards the BWF World Ranking and, thus, towards qualifying for Paris 2024.
