2022 edition of prestigious European Chess Club Cup will kick-off on 3rd October and run till 9th October, we take a look at the format, schedule, prize money, and other details of the tournament
Each year, club teams from across Europe compete in the European Chess Club Cup. The competition is run by the European Chess Union over seven rounds using the Swiss system. It has two divisions, open and women’s, with six and four players on each team, respectively, for each match.

2022 European Chess Club Cup Format, Rules, Schedule, Date, Time, Venue, And Other Details
In Mayrhofen, Austria, from October 2 through 10, the 37th European Chess Club Cup and 26th European Women’s Chess Club Cup will both be played simultaneously. For both prestigious tournaments, seven rounds of Swiss method games with a time limit of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves and 30 minutes for the remaining moves will be used. A total of 40,000 euros will be awarded in prizes for the competition (25,000 euros for the Open tournament and 15,000 euros for the Women’s event).

2022 European Chess Club Cup Line-up, Participating Teams, And Captains
This competition is open to five clubs per federation that hosts a national team championship or four clubs per federation that does not host a national team championship, and it is open to all European federations. Further, national federations may choose the clubs in whatever manner they like but ECU Board should review any additional requests for participation.

In the open tournament, winning team will bag a prize money of 9,000 euros while champion team of women’s competition will earn total of 6000 euros. During European Chess Club Cup, women’s competition has a prize pool of 15,000 euros while open tournament will have prize pool of 25,000 euros.
