At ongoing European Club Cup, second-seed Novy Bor has managed to overcome yet another big challenge after defeating top-seed CSU Superbet led by Vishy Anand plus many other stars. Earlier on Thursday, Novy Bor also defeated Offerspill led by Magnus Carlsen to take sole-lead and following today’s victory, it seems they will be the likely victors of open division.

2022 European Chess Club Cup Schedule, Date, Time, Venue, And Other Details
On Friday, second-seed Novy Bor Chess Club easily defeated top-seed CSU ASE Superbet to take sole possession of first place in the standings. Due to the huge gap between them and leaders with only two rounds of games remaining, it is unlikely that CSU Superbet will be able to win the championship. The team with the most points after six games will be crowned the winner in an open-division tie.

2022 European Chess Club Cup Results Today, Best Performers of Day 5, And Latest Standings
Magnus Carlsen, the current world champion, won his third successive match during day five at European Chess Club Cup in Mayrhofen. In another tie, victories by Vidit and Harikrishna helped Novy Bor to defeat top-seed CSU ASE Supberbet by a score of 4.5-1.5 and take the lone lead with perfect-record so far in tournament. Meanwhile, Pamhagen is leading the table in women’s division after defeating Baden 2.5-1.5 in an all-Austrian clash. CSU ASE Superbet defeated BGK KS Gwiazda Bydgoszcz 2.5-1.5 on table 1 and joined Pamhagen as co-leaders. Elsewhere, Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo defeated Wood Green 3-1 and now trail the leading duo by two points.
On Saturday’s pen-ultimate round of matches, leaders Novy Bor will clash against sixth-seed Schachclub Viernheim 1934e.V. while top-seed CSU Superbet will face-off against eighth-seed Silla – València Origin of Chess. Meanwhile, Magnus Carlen’s Offerspill will face Schach ohne Grenzen in Round 6 tie. In women’s division, top-seed Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo will play second-seed CSU Superbet with title chances at stake while co-leaders Pamhagen will play fourth-seed Odlar Yurdu in pen-ultimate round.
