At the final of 2022 Cazoo European Championship Darts in Dortmund, Ross Smith stunned Michael Smith by score of 11-8 to win his first televised championship. With this win, Ross bagged £120,000 prize money along with berth in 2022 Cazoo Grand Slam of Darts.

2022 European Championship Darts Ross Smith vs Michael Smith Final Results, Score, & Match Summary
Ross Smith started the competition as underdog but completely dominated his opponents thanks to series of outstanding performances. In the quarterfinals, he overcame 3-8 deficit to defeat reigning World Champion Peter Wright. Later in semi-final, he defeated Chris Dobey 11-9 in another thrilling encounter to qualify for final. Ross Smith got off to a flying start, jumping out to a 3-0 lead, but Michael Smith, the US Darts Masters champion, came back to tie the match at 3-3. Ross, however, was able to grab the upper hand in the final and secure an 8-4 advantage to put himself in position to win the match. Michael Smith made a late comeback and cut the lead to 8-7, but Ross won three straight legs to secure the victory and the £120,000 prize money.
In order to qualify for final, world championship runner-up Michael Smith achieved notable victories over Josh Rock, Luke Humphries, and Dirk van Duijvenbode, but was once again left contemplating what might have been. Elsewhere, following his title win, Ross Smith will move up to a career-high 20th place on the PDC Order of Merit and earn spot in next month’s Cazoo Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton.
