Euro 2020: Do Germany Really Need An All Out Striker To Win The Showpiece Competition

Germany humiliated Portugal by scoring four goals which were exciting to see ahead of their final Euro 2020 group stage clash against Hungary

Germany scored four absolutely wonderful goals with the same squad which was unable to score against the World Champions France in the previous match. Every football pundit criticized Joachim Löw for opting for the same squad without an all-out striker in the team.

He figured out the weak link of the team and terminated it. They proved that a better team with players who understand each other can score more goals than two or three traditional strikers who play for glory.

The chemistry between certain players was just outstanding as the Portuguese defence was split in half in the opening 5 minutes when Joshua Kimmich put a teasing ball into the box which Robin Gosens fired into the Portuguese goal only to be ruled out via VAR check which assured that the ball was handled by Muller in the buildup.

Robin Gosens was incredible in Germany’s triumph over Portugal he was running a rampage on his opposite number. Gosens literally burned Semedo and was toying with him up and down over that right flank.

He provided 2 assists and scored 1 goal in a match where he was sensational. The whole Portuguese team seemed frustrated as he was running circles around Semedo. He has established himself as one of the most committed left-back in the world and is ready for the big stage.

Joshua Kimmich

26-years-old Joshua Kimmich has once again proved that he is the player Germany can rely on for the future. His versatility and strong personality have already made him a crucial player for the German team. He was instrumental in dominating the Mid-Field which created an end number of chances.

He unlocked the Portuguese defence with his smart one-two with Gundogan and Kroos creating a more fluent transition from defence to attack. So many possible threats were on the pitch from the German side which confused the Portuguese players.

His brilliant decision making in the final third was instrumental in today’s game as Germany showed that they do not need an All-Out striker in the team who has a good personality and strong determination. Germany’s setup worked like a well-oiled machine that had every part which was needed in order to get the result.

Cristiano Ronaldo: The Ultimate Striker

Cristiano Ronaldo has another piece of history in his sights after matching the record of Germany legend Miroslav Klose when it comes to combined goals at World Cups and European Championships. This strike was his 19th at the two major international tournaments, with no player boasting more.
