Pune, India, 30th January, 2025 – India’s esports landscape continues to evolve as the Nationals phase of the Indus International Tournament concludes
After an intense competition spanning over seven days and 166 matches, Team Esports Battleground representing the state of Assam emerged victorious. Brazil-based esports organization 4MAGIC, competing with an Indian roster and representing the state of Uttarakhand, secured second place, while Reckoning Esports, representing Maharashtra, finished in third.
With their victories, Team Esports Battleground and Team 4MAGIC have secured their spots in the Indus International Tournament LAN Finale, where they will battle for a staggering ₹2 crore prize pool. They will be joined by previously qualified teams, including Team Rogue, Team Destruction of Game (DGE), Team Moggers (from the Homegrown phase), and the Philippines-based Kadiliman Esports in what promises to be an intense battle for supremacy.

As the tournament gains momentum, registrations for Indus International Tournament Powerplay remain open. With over 100 esports organizations already registered, the competition for a ₹25 lakh prize pool is heating up. Since its debut in October 2024, Indus Battle Royale has undergone significant updates, making the gameplay more immersive and engaging. Key improvements include:
Shields: A New Layer of Defence Mechanism
· Shields introduce Snap (75% max cap, refills 25%) and Burst (100% max cap, refills fully) mechanics, changing the way players approach combat.
· Tactical Depth: Players can now plan aggressive plays, strategically retreat, and adapt their combat style based on shield levels.
Toofan 2.0: A Game-Changer on Wheels
· On-the-move Combat: Players can now heal, toss grenades, or deploy smoke bombs while on the move, transforming vehicles into strategic assets.
· Vehicle Health & Explosions: Toofan 2.0 introduces a risk-reward mechanic with vehicle health indicators and explosion potential, adding depth to tactical decisions.
Enhanced Visuals
· Cosmium VFX Revamp: Capturing Cosmium now feels more immersive with new visual effects.
· Improved Environment: A visually striking improvement with a new skybox, enhancing the overall aesthetic of Virlok.
· Graphics Upgrades: Enhanced textures, lighting, and UI elements make the game more visually striking.
What’s Next for Players? Upcoming Update Highlights
Core Gameplay Enhancements:
· Weapon Balance: Improved Hit registration for more accurate shots. All players will now start with the R4-FTR as their default weapon in Battle Royale. Firearm recoil has been fine-tuned, while full-auto weapons have been rebalanced for better combat consistency.
· Player & Environment Adjustments: Movement and pacing refinements with reduced player speeds. Storm speeds and damage have been adjusted to maintain game balance. Healing is now more intuitive with an improved recommendation system, and the health bar now animates dynamically when healing or taking damage.
· Enhanced Visibility & UI Improvements: Enemy and Ally spotting is now easier with improved visibility. Nearby loot boxes will automatically appear in the UI upon landing. Hotspots are now visible inflight making strategic drops more effective. Supply drops are also visible from a greater distance, giving players more opportunities to plan their approach.
Control Refinements:
Players now have separate buttons for sliding and crouching with an option to enable/disable separation. An auto-run feature has been added for smoother in game navigation. Additionally, all control icons have been refreshed for better clarity.
Menu Updates:
Revamped loading screens with improved visuals and dynamic tooltips to keep players informed as they prepare to enter the battle.
