The Super Regional game between the 16th-ranked Alabama and the top-rated Wake Forest was unexpectedly delayed for two hours due to a ‘non-game related medical event’. It was only later revealed that the delay was due to Brown’s untimely passing. As of now, the cause of his death remains unknown.

Brown was present at the scene in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for Wake Forest’s Super Regional game against Alabama when the medical emergency unfolded.

A statement issued by ESPN remembered Brown as a “deeply admired member” of their production team. His career was decorated with two Sports Emmy Awards, achieved while working across a wide array of sports events. From baseball and basketball to ‘Monday Night Football’ and college football, Brown’s directorial acumen graced various sports disciplines.

“Being a former Ohio State pitcher, Kyle cherished the opportunity to have a career in sports. His ESPN family wishes to extend our deepest condolences and full support to Kyle’s loved ones, including his wife Megan, their four children Makayla, Carson, Camden, Madyn, and their beloved dog Rookie”, said the statement from ESPN.

From an early age, Brown was passionate about working in sports and for ESPN. His passion for television production blossomed after an experience with a neighbor who worked as a director at ESPN. This led him to start working for ESPN productions at various Ohio State games televised by the network since he was a freshman in high school.

Recalling his experience with Dick Vitale, he had once shared, “You listen to him on TV and think, ‘This guy must drink Red Bull by the gallon,’ but off the air he is one of the most laid-back, nicest guys in the world.”

Brown is survived by his wife Megan and their four children; 14-year-old Makayla, 11-year-old Carson, 9-year-old Camden, and 6-year-old Madyn, as reported by USA Today. His sudden demise leaves a significant void in the world of sports broadcasting and in the hearts of his loving family.
