India is scheduled to play a 5-match test series against England. The first match of the England vs India test series 2021 will start on the 4th of August at Trent Bridge
India lost the World Test Championship against New Zealand by 8 wickets. Now that the World Test Championship 2019-2021 is concluded the focus of the Indian players and fans will be towards the 5-match series against England.
India won the test series 3-1 when England came to India early this year. It has been quite a long since India won a test series in England. India last won a Test series in England in 2007. It is a golden opportunity for Virat Kohli and his men to end the 14-year old drought in England.
BCCI To Ask For Warm-Up Games Prior To England vs India Test Series 2021
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah will request England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to arrange 2 warm-up games for the Indian cricket team ahead of the 5-match series against England.
There is a long three-week break for the Indian players before the Test series starts. Players have given been given the luxury of traveling but they’ll have to report back immediately if called back.
Shah spoke to the Indian team and it was decided that these warm-up games are necessary to keep the players in rhythm. India didn’t get to play any warm-up/practice games before the World Test Championship Final as well.
BCCI Treasurer Arun Dhumal said that Jay Shah will speak to ECB and its CEO Tom Harrison about this. “Jay (Shah) will be speaking to ECB and its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tom Harrison to make an arrangement for two warm-up games before the five-Test match series” were his exact words.
However, it’s still not clear that whether the practice games will be of three days or four days. The BCCI has always arranged a shadow India-A tour before any international but it wasn’t possible this time around due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
