Enea Bastianini is now the holder of the fastest lap record at Sepang, Malaysia after his heroics today in MotoGP
Despite inclement weather taking over day 2 of the Official Sepang MotoGP 2022 test in Malaysia, riders were unperturbed as they upped the ante ahead of the impending season.
Ena Bastianini Sets Sepang MotoGP Lap Record
An action packed day saw Enea Bastianini of Gresini Racing MotoGP nail his place in the folklore of the Sepang track as he became the holder of the fastest lap at the track. The Italian ended up with a timing of 1:58.131, 0.026s faster than Aleix Espargaro of Aprilia Racing. Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing) was third with 0.8s covering 18 riders.
It wasn’t only the Italian who was tearing the track up but the remainder of the field was burning the circuit as well. 0.3s split the top 12 and all six factories are within half a second of each other, before rain decided to make a foray with it unlikely the riders will be improve on their bygone timings owing to the weather conditions.
Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar) and the fastest rookie so far, Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) crashed at Turn 15 today meanwhile. Marco who was 16th, was just 0.5s behind Bastianini’s lap record on the day.
