Television Network Corporation (TVING) announced on July 12, 2023, that Ji Chang-wook, Jeon Jong-seo, Lee Soo-hyuk, and others would be appearing in the upcoming drama Empress Woo with both the release date and cast out of the Kdramaย 

The story of Goguryeo’s empress, as told by Empress Woo. After her husband’s unexpected death, she has to deal with a string of misfortunes. As the attacks from those seeking the throne begin, she turns to levirate.

Ji Chang-wook’s Empress Woo will tell the story of King Gogukcheon of Goguryeo, who was able to preserve peace and order in his reign despite having thousands of warriors under his command.

The Han Dynasty had almost 30,000 warriors, but King Gogukcheon of Goguryeo managed to vanquish them all. His sincerity and drive have won him widespread support. However, a chain of unfortunate events brings disaster to his Kingdom as the news of his supposed death spreads despair and anarchy throughout the land.

There is anarchy and despair in the kingdom of King Gogukcheon, and his wife, Woo-hee, is under pressure from the princes and five powerful tribes to appoint a new King within the next day. In the upcoming drama Empress Woo, Jeon Jong-seo will play Ji Chang-wook’s wife, Woo-hee.
