Prediction

On Thursday, Emma Raducanu faces Yanina Wickmayer for a spot in the Korea Open quarterfinals, and the Briton will be attempting to extend her stay in Seoul.

On Wednesday, World No. 77 from Britain defeated Moyuka Uchijima in straight sets to begin her WTA 250 campaign. However, she did falter in the second set, giving up a 5-0 lead before triumphing 6-2, 6-4.

Meanwhile, the former World No. 12 Wickmayer will play next against Radaucanu after defeating teenage wonder Linda Fruhvirtova of the Czech Republic in her opening match. After taking a break from the sport in 2021 to give birth to her first child, Belgian veteran Wickmayer has fallen to No. 460 in the WTA Rankings.

It is important to note that Wickmayer has already succeeded in pleasing surprises while making predictions about her. Yanina sensationally handled Linda Frukhvirtova at the beginning of the competition. The idea that she will be able to achieve success across a long distance is, however, far from certain. The Belgian situation substantially worsened after two years of inactivity. It is therefore unlikely to suffice for a long time. The tennis player last received a trophy in 2016 and following that she was pleased only with rating points.

Since neither player is in a functional state, it is reasonable to assume that no one will be able to restrict themselves to a short walk but here, Raducanu will enter the match as a slight favourite.
