Know about Emma Raducanu recent injury update at the Nottingham Open 2022 and when the Briton will return ahead of Wimbledon
US Open champion Emma Raducanu was forced to retire today against Victorija Golubic at the Round of 32 of the Nottingham Open.
When she had a medical timeout at the first changeover, the second seed was broken in the first game before bouncing back and holding for a 2-1 lead. She was treated twice more before going down 3-4 to the Swiss player after only 33 minutes. Raducanu has now refused to commit to Wimbledon, admitting that she has no idea what the issue is. With an “absolute freak injury,” she may or may not participate in the upcoming grass-court major. Will she miss the home ground Grand Slam? Let’s have a look at the injury update.
Emma Raducanu Injury Update, Return Date, Status And News As She Retires From Nottingham Open 2022
Emma Raducanu was forced to withdraw from the last 32 of the Nottingham Open while she was 3-4 down to the opponent Victorija Golubic. The player went through examinations and according to sports journalist James Gray, the British professional will go through further tests.” I need to get a scan. I’m not going to Google doctor myself, so I’ll get it checked out,” reported James Gray.
Raducanu’s return to Nottingham, and the event in which she began her professional career 12 months ago, ended in disappointment.
Raducanu’s first-round loss to Harriet Dart here in 2021 gave little indication of what was to come, as she advanced to the fourth round of Wimbledon a few weeks later, before going on to win the US Open in September, becoming the first qualifier to win a grand slam event in the open era.
Since her victory in New York, Raducanu has had many injuries, including blisters and a back problem, as well as contracting COVID-19 in December. She now appears to be in a race against the clock to be totally fit and ready for the event.
Wimbledon starts this month on the 27th of June which is not too far and with her injury, the 19-year-old doesn’t look enough good to be prepared for the Grand Slam. Raducanu has put herself and everyone in doubt about the upcoming major.
