Elana Alessandra Meyers was born on October 10, 1984, in Oceanside, California. Meyers is an American bobsledder, who participated in Olympic Games and World Champions since 2007.

Meyers Taylor was born in California’s ocean side and was raised in Douglasville, Georgia. Elana’s father was a professional football player and thus, she started playing softball from a very early age. She completed her graduation from George Washington University. During her graduation days, she was part of the University’s softball team.

Her father Eddie Meyers played in the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons while mother Janet Meyers played softball for high school and was a cheerleader as well but failed to get a chance to go to college.

Meyers Taylor clinched the silver during the bobsled two-woman event along with Shauna Rohbock at the 2009 FIBT World Championships which was held in Lake Placid in New York.

In 2010, Elana was included in the U.S. team for the 2010 Winter Olympics which was to start on January 16, 2010.

Meyers along with Erin Pac on February 24, 2010, clinched the bronze medal at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Elana Meyers Taylor achieved a grant from the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF) Travel and Training Fund in the year 2010, and another one in 2013. She further served on the WSF advisory board and sooner started to serve as their president in 2019.

Meyers Taylor and brake-woman Katie Eberling were also named at the second position at the 2013 FIBT World Championships in St. Moritz.

Meyers Taylor along with Lauryn Williams clinched the silver medal at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games on February 19.

Meyers Taylor and pusher Lauren Gibbs in February 2018 at the Winter Olympics secured a silver medal in the two-woman bobsleigh event.

During the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, she was chosen as the flag bearer for team U.S and, also clinched the historic bronze with Sylvia Hoffman. She is the most decorated black Winter Olympian with five medals to her name.
